Ford to move world headquarters for first time in nearly 70 years
Ford Announces Move to New World Headquarters
Ford has revealed plans to relocate its headquarters from the iconic “Glass House” in Dearborn, Michigan, to a new site just a few miles away. The new Ford World Headquarters, set to open in November, will bring together the company’s engineering, design, and technology teams under one roof.
The move, scheduled for the first half of 2026, will see the demolition of the Glass House, built in 1956. Ford executives Bill Ford and Jim Farley emphasized that the new headquarters is more than just a building – it represents a catalyst for innovation and collaboration in the Ford+ transformation era.
Spanning 2.1 million square feet, the new building is double the size of the Glass House and will be part of the Henry Ford II World Center campus. With facilities like design studios, a showroom, a food hall, wellness rooms, and tech-enabled meeting rooms, the new headquarters aims to foster a dynamic work environment for the company’s employees.
Notably, the new location is situated on the former Ford Product Development Center site, which has a rich history of producing iconic Ford vehicles like the Mustang, Thunderbird, and F-Series trucks. The move marks a significant milestone for Ford as it looks towards the future of mobility and innovation.
Overall, the relocation represents a strategic shift for Ford as it consolidates its operations in a modern, collaborative workspace designed to drive the company’s success in the rapidly evolving automotive industry.
