Former Georgia beauty queen Trinity Poague allegedly killed baby son over jealousy, wanted a child of her own
Trinity Poague, a former Georgia beauty queen, is currently standing trial for the murder of her boyfriend’s toddler son, 18-month-old Romeo Angeles. The incident took place in January 2024, when Poague was watching the young child in her boyfriend Julian Williams’ dorm room. Williams had stepped out to pick up a pizza when Poague allegedly killed Romeo in a fit of rage.
Poague texted Williams that his son was not breathing, prompting him to rush back to find the toddler unresponsive. Despite efforts to stabilize Romeo at the ER, he tragically passed away. Poague was later charged with murder, aggravated battery, and child cruelty, to which she pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors have alleged that Poague killed Romeo out of jealousy, as she desired to have a child of her own with Williams but did not want to assume a stepmother role to his son. They claim that Poague expressed her resentment towards the child in a text to her roommate before the incident.
During the trial, it was revealed that Poague searched online for information on head injuries, raising suspicions about her involvement in Romeo’s death. Medical experts testified that the toddler had suffered blunt-force trauma to the head and torso, inconsistent with Poague’s initial claims that he had simply fallen off the bed.
If convicted on all charges, Poague faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty. She has been stripped of her beauty pageant titles, including Miss Donalsonville 2023, and has faced backlash from the community for her alleged actions.
Despite being released on bond after her arrest, Williams has expressed outrage at the decision, stating that he and his family only seek justice for his son. The trial continues as the court deliberates on Poague’s involvement in the tragic death of 18-month-old Romeo Angeles.
