Former home of Weinglass family sells for $42 million

The legendary Merry-Go Ranch on McLain Flats, once owned by Aspen icon Leonard “Boogie” Weinglass, was recently sold for $42,000,000 after being on and off the market for several years.
The 21.38-acre property, located at 1650 McLain Flats Road, was listed with Sotheby’s International Realty’s Soffia Wardy for just under a year before it was sold. Wardy, who represented Weinglass, mentioned that there were multiple brokers and offers over the years before the final sale was made.
Wardy explained, “The significance of this sale lies in the emotional attachment the seller had to the property. It is one of the most iconic properties in Aspen… While finding the right buyer was crucial, generating interest was never an issue. The sale was dependent on the seller’s readiness and a clear decision on when and how the ranch should be passed on.”
It was revealed that the property had been in Weinglass’ family for over 40 years and had been home to three generations.
