Former Mets star Darryl Strawberry thanks Trump for pardon during sermon at Tulsa church

Former New York Mets star Darryl Strawberry delivered a powerful sermon at a Tulsa church, where he expressed his gratitude to President Donald Trump for pardoning his past tax evasion and drug charges. Strawberry, a devout Christian, credited his faith for turning his life around and keeping him sober for over two decades.

During his sermon at Sheridan Church, Strawberry spoke about how God had set him free through President Trump’s pardon. The former baseball player, who hit 335 homers and had 1,000 RBIs in his 17-season career, shared how his Christian faith had helped him overcome legal, health, and personal challenges.

Jackson Lahmeyer, the lead pastor at Sheridan Church and a member of the National Faith Advisory Board, welcomed Strawberry to the pulpit. Lahmeyer, who founded Pastors for Trump, had previously discussed Strawberry with the president during a meeting at the White House.

Strawberry, who got to know Trump during his appearance on “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2010, received a call from the president on November 6 informing him of the pardon. Trump commended Strawberry for his transformation and his dedication to helping others through his faith.

The former baseball star, now 63, resides in St. Louis with his wife Tracy and travels extensively to share his testimony and preach about Jesus. Despite his past mistakes, Strawberry’s story of redemption and faith has inspired many, including church members and visitors who attended his sermon at Sheridan Church.

As Shirley Carson, a Trump supporter and church attendee, remarked, “That’s what the power of Jesus does.” Steve Smith, a longtime Mets fan who waited 40 years to meet Strawberry, expressed his excitement at finally meeting his baseball hero.

Strawberry’s message of hope, redemption, and faith resonated with the congregation, reminding them of the transformative power of God’s love. His story serves as a testament to the belief that no matter how far one may fall, redemption and forgiveness are always within reach through faith and perseverance.
