Former NFL quarterback and Kristin Cavallari’s ex-husband Jay Cutler jailed in Tennessee
Jay Cutler, the former NFL quarterback, has started serving a four-day jail sentence in Franklin, Tennessee, after pleading guilty to one count of misdemeanor DUI. The 42-year-old was booked into Williamson County Jail on Monday morning as part of a deal he made with prosecutors to resolve his DUI case in Tennessee. In exchange for the plea deal, prosecutors dropped the weapons charge that Cutler was also facing.
The incident leading to Cutler’s arrest occurred in October 2024 when he was involved in a traffic accident and showed signs of intoxication. Police reported that Cutler rear-ended another vehicle and exhibited slurred speech, refusing to take field sobriety tests at the scene. A blood sample test was later taken at a local hospital, where two firearms were also found in his vehicle, one of which was loaded.
Initially facing charges including DUI, reckless driving, violating implied consent regulations, and possessing a firearm while intoxicated, Cutler pleaded guilty in court and received a four-day jail sentence. He was also ordered to pay a $350 fine, serve a year of unsupervised probation, attend a DUI safety course, and have his driver’s license suspended for a year. The other charges were dropped as part of the plea deal.
Cutler, a father of three, shares children with his ex-wife Kristin Cavallari, with whom he was married from 2013 to 2020. Following their divorce, the ex-couple has engaged in public disputes, with Cutler recently refuting Cavallari’s claim that she received no financial settlement after their breakup. Cutler emphasized that he has a divorce decree signed by a judge that outlines the financial breakdown of their assets.
During his 12-year NFL career, Cutler played for the Broncos, Bears, and Dolphins, amassing over $128 million in earnings. He threw for 35,133 yards and completed 227 touchdown passes in his NFL career before retiring in 2018. Despite the legal troubles, Cutler remains a prominent figure in the football world, remembered for his contributions on the field.
