Francisco Alvarez exits rehab game in Mets injury concern
Francisco Alvarez Injured Again During Rehab Game
Francisco Alvarez, the Mets catcher, faced another setback in his road to recovery during a rehab game with Triple-A Syracuse. In the sixth inning of the game against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders, Alvarez was struck in his left pinky finger by a pitch, forcing him to leave the game.
Alvarez, who was already dealing with a sprained UCL in his right thumb, endured the injury on a check-swing attempt. The impact of the 90 mph sinker pitch left him visibly in pain, prompting him to bend over with his hands between his knees.
Despite walking to first base after the incident, Alvarez was promptly removed from the game following a hand check. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that Alvarez is currently undergoing further evaluation.

Alvarez, who has been a key player for the Mets this season with a .265 batting average, seven home runs, and a .787 OPS, now faces another hurdle in his recovery journey.
