Georgia teen Lequan Stephens arrested after father turns him in following pair of shootings

A Georgia teenager was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a series of shootings after his father handed him over to the authorities, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

Sixteen-year-old Lequan Stephens is facing charges of aggravated assault following an incident on January 17 in the 2500 block of Lovejoy Crossing Lane, where a juvenile was found in a vehicle with gunshot wounds to the face and neck. The victim was shot by the suspect before he fled the scene.

Stephens was identified as the alleged shooter, and warrants were issued for his arrest by both the Lovejoy Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for a separate shooting incident.

In a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, the sheriff’s department carried out operations at various locations associated with Stephens’ relatives and associates. They made it clear that Stephens would find no refuge and receive no assistance.

After evading capture for over 48 hours, Stephens was eventually turned in to the police by his father.

The case underscores the importance of cooperation between law enforcement and the community in apprehending suspects and ensuring public safety. It also highlights the role of family members in taking responsibility for the actions of their loved ones and assisting in the pursuit of justice.

The swift resolution of this case is a testament to the dedication and coordination of law enforcement agencies in bringing perpetrators to justice and maintaining security in the community.
