‘Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ TV Series Set at Sky (EXCLUSIVE)
Sky has recently announced the commissioning of a series adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s popular novel “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” The adaptation will consist of eight episodes and will be a Sky Original production. The series will be written and executive produced by Steve Lightfoot and Angela LaManna, with Left Bank Pictures handling production. The show is set to begin production in Lithuania this spring and will be available on Sky in various countries including the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Sony Pictures Television will handle international distribution.
The story follows disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist and hacker Lisbeth Salander as they investigate the mysterious disappearance of a girl from a wealthy family decades ago. The adaptation aims to bring the story into the present day while staying true to the characters and investigative themes of Larsson’s Millennium novels.
The Millennium book series, created by Larsson, consists of three books completed before his death in 2004. Following Larsson’s passing, David Lagercrantz continued the series with additional novels. The books have collectively sold over 100 million copies worldwide.
Previous adaptations of the Millennium series include a Swedish film series and an American film starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. The new series by Sky promises to offer a fresh take on the beloved characters of Salander and Blomkvist.
Fans of the Millennium series can look forward to a new and exciting adaptation of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” coming soon to Sky. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated series.
