Gloria Chapman, wife of John Lennon’s killer, spotted before assassination anniversary

Gloria Chapman, the devoted wife of John Lennon’s assassin, Mark David Chapman, was recently spotted outside her home in Buffalo, New York, just days before the somber 45th anniversary of Lennon’s assassination. This rare sighting of Gloria, now 75 years old, marks the first time she has been photographed in over a decade since she relocated from Hawaii to western New York to be closer to her husband, who is currently incarcerated.

Public records indicate that Gloria moved to the area in 2019, living just a few miles away from Wende Correctional Institution, where Chapman was housed at the time before being transferred to a prison in Dutchess County three years ago. The couple first met in 1978 when Gloria, then a 26-year-old travel agent in Hawaii, helped Chapman plan a trip to Asia. It was during this time that Chapman introduced her to Christianity, and both have remained deeply religious ever since.

Last week, Gloria was seen clearing snow off her car before heading to a local church service, a ritual she dedicates nearly three hours to. Gloria and Chapman were married for just 16 months when Chapman, then 25, fatally shot Lennon outside the Dakota apartment building on December 8, 1980. Gloria recalls watching “Little House on the Prairie” when news of Lennon’s shooting broke, and she immediately knew it was her husband who had committed the heinous act.

Despite the shocking turn of events, Gloria has stood by Chapman for nearly five decades, expressing her unwavering love for him. She has spoken openly about their intimate moments during their rare conjugal visits, where they spend 44 hours together once a year in a small trailer. Gloria mentioned that their love has only grown stronger over the years, and Chapman always prioritizes love and intimacy in their relationship.

Chapman, who remains a Beatles fan, has expressed his hopes for Lennon’s forgiveness from beyond the grave. Gloria, on the other hand, has embraced Christianity and hopes that Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, finds solace in Jesus as they have. Despite the challenges they have faced, Gloria and Chapman’s love has endured, with Gloria emphasizing the importance of their bond and the limited but cherished moments they share together.

As Chapman serves a life sentence and awaits his next parole hearing in 2027, Gloria continues to support him, visiting and communicating with him regularly. Despite the tragic events of the past, Gloria remains devoted to her husband, finding comfort in their faith and enduring love.
