GOP Congressman Sounds Alarm On What Could Decimate Party In 2026

Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.) issued a warning on Sunday, stating that the GOP could face severe consequences in the 2026 midterm elections if they fail to address voters’ health care concerns. Van Drew, who switched from the Democratic Party in 2019 after the first impeachment of President Donald Trump, emphasized the need for Republicans to develop a comprehensive replacement for the Affordable Care Act within a year.

Describing the ACA as “terrible” and essentially a means of subsidizing insurance companies, Van Drew highlighted the immediate impact on individuals facing doubled premiums upon receiving their renewal notices.

“We need to address this issue promptly,” Van Drew emphasized. “It is not only a matter of moral responsibility but also crucial for our electoral success. We cannot afford to overlook the significance of health care in winning the upcoming midterms.”

Van Drew stressed the importance of focusing on winning the midterms and acknowledged the challenges ahead. He underscored that the GOP’s stance on health care will play a pivotal role in determining their success in the elections.
