Green Berets demand justice for Afghan ‘brother’ Abdul Rahman Waziri

A group of Green Berets is seeking justice for their Afghan comrade, Abdul Rahman Waziri, who was tragically killed in a dispute over a parking spot in Houston. Waziri, a former member of the elite Afghan National Mine Removal Group, had bravely fought alongside American forces against the Taliban in Afghanistan before relocating to the US as a refugee.

The Green Berets, who served with Waziri, are deeply saddened by his senseless death and frustrated by the lack of accountability for his killer. Despite the shooter confessing to the crime, Houston police have yet to make an arrest, and the Harris County District Attorney declined to press charges.

Waziri, who pleaded for his life before being fatally shot, left behind a wife and two young daughters. His family, along with fellow soldiers and members of the Afghan community in Houston, are demanding justice for his untimely death.

Waziri’s brother, Abdullah Khan, also a member of the mine removal team, spoke of their harrowing experiences fighting against the Taliban and ISIS in Afghanistan. He recounted the chaos of the US withdrawal from Kabul and Waziri’s escape just hours before a suicide bombing at the airport.

The community is outraged that a man who risked his life to assist American troops during the tumultuous withdrawal from Afghanistan met such a violent end in Houston. Waziri’s widow, now living in fear with her children, has sought refuge with family in Florida.

Former Green Berets and Army contractors who worked closely with Waziri praised his dedication and bravery, describing him as a true hero. They are advocating for justice on his behalf, urging city officials to investigate the killing and hold the perpetrator accountable.

The tragic loss of Abdul Rahman Waziri has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and served with him. His legacy as a warrior and a peacemaker will be remembered, and his comrades are determined to ensure that his family receives the justice they deserve.
