Gruesome video captures NYC pit bull mauling Percy the Jack Russell: ‘So much pain’

A recent incident in Queens involving a pit bull attacking a Jack Russell mix named Percy has left pet owners in the area on edge. The attack occurred when the pit bull managed to jump through a broken fence and latched onto Percy’s ribcage. Percy’s owner, David Baldwin, was left traumatized after the incident, which was captured on surveillance video. Despite Baldwin’s efforts to fend off the aggressive pit bull, Percy suffered multiple broken ribs and other injuries, resulting in over $8,000 in veterinary bills.

The fence from which the pit bull escaped had a warning sign that read, “You may be in danger of losing your teeth and not realize it!” This incident is not isolated, as other pet owners in the area have reported similar attacks by the same pit bull. Samuel Gutierrez shared his harrowing experience of his Shiba Inu, Stella, being attacked and left with serious injuries, costing him around $3,000 in vet bills.

In response to these incidents, a bill known as “Penny’s Law” is pending in the state legislature to address dog-on-dog attacks. The law aims to close the loophole that currently only considers dog-on-human attacks as a crime. Baldwin took matters into his own hands by creating a viral TikTok video warning others about the dangerous pit bull in his neighborhood.

Despite filing a police report and reaching out to local authorities, Baldwin and other pet owners feel helpless in preventing further attacks. The Department of Health issued a citation to repair the damaged fence a year ago, but no action has been taken. Baldwin hopes that repairs will be made to ensure the safety of pets and people in the area.

The community is on edge, fearing that the next victim of the aggressive pit bull could be a child. The Department of Health has yet to respond to inquiries about the situation. The residents are calling for action to prevent future attacks and ensure the safety of pets and residents in the neighborhood.
