‘Hacks’ Julianne Nicholson Wins Emmy for Guest Actress in Comedy
Julianne Nicholson has added another Emmy win to her collection, this time for her guest actress role in a comedy series. The talented actress was a double nominee this year, receiving nods for her performances in both Hulu’s “Paradise” and HBO Max’s “Hacks.”
In “Hacks,” Nicholson portrayed the character Mary Alice, also known as “Dance Mom,” showcasing her comedic chops and physicality in the role. She worked closely with choreographer Corey Baker to perfect her character’s clunky dance style, putting in a lot of effort to make the performance as authentic as possible.
This latest Emmy win marks Nicholson’s second victory, following her Outstanding Supporting Actress win for HBO’s “Mare of Easttown.” She was up against tough competition in the guest actress category, including nominees like Jamie Lee Curtis, Olivia Colman, and Cynthia Erivo.
The Creative Arts Emmys are currently underway at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, with shows like “Severance” receiving multiple nominations for outstanding production design and editing. Production designer Jeremy Hindle was recognized for his work on challenging episodes like “Woe’s Hollow.”
Other notable nominees at the Creative Arts Emmys include Julie Andrews for her voiceover work on “Bridgerton” and music icon Beyoncé for her directing in the variety special category. Beyoncé’s Netflix special “Beyoncé Bowl” received four nominations in total.
Last month, the Television Academy announced the winners of the 77th Emmy Awards in specialized categories like animation and costume design. Beyoncé took home an Emmy for outstanding costumes, while shows like Netflix’s “Arcane” were also honored for their design and artistry.
The 77th Emmy Awards, hosted by Nate Bargatze, will air live on CBS on September 14th, with streaming options available on Paramount+. It’s shaping up to be another exciting year for television’s biggest night, with a diverse range of talent and shows being recognized for their outstanding contributions to the industry.
