Handmaid’s Tale’s O-T Fagbenle Reacts to Elisabeth Moss Emmy Snub
The recent Emmys snub of Elisabeth Moss for her role in the sixth and final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” has left her co-star O-T Fagbenle feeling disappointed. Fagbenle expressed his thoughts on Moss’s omission from the nominations while attending the premiere of “Splitsville” at AMC The Grove in Los Angeles.
Describing Moss as “incredible,” Fagbenle lamented the fact that she did not receive recognition for her portrayal of Offred/June Osbourne, a Handmaid who becomes a fierce opponent of the oppressive regime in Gilead. Moss had previously been nominated four times for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, winning the award once in 2017. She also won an Emmy as a producer for outstanding drama series that same year.
Despite Moss’s snub, the final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” did receive one nomination for Cherry Jones for outstanding guest actress in a drama series. However, the absence of Moss from the nominations was a glaring oversight for many fans and critics of the show.
In a previous interview with Variety, Moss had expressed her deep connection to the character of June and the show itself, stating that it had been a significant part of her life for nine years. The emotional attachment she felt towards the role made it difficult for her to discuss the show and its impact on her.
The Emmys ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 14 in Los Angeles, where the winners will be announced. Despite Moss’s absence from the nominations, fans of the show are hopeful that “The Handmaid’s Tale” will receive recognition in other categories.
In the meantime, Fagbenle can be seen in the upcoming film “Splitsville,” which follows the lives of two couples as their relationships unravel. Fagbenle plays a friend of one of the main characters, adding humor and depth to the story.
“Splitsville” is set to premiere in select theaters on Friday and will be available everywhere on September 5. The film addresses contemporary themes of monogamy and relationships, reflecting the challenges that many people face in their personal lives.
Overall, while Elisabeth Moss’s Emmys snub may have been disappointing to fans and colleagues alike, her talent and dedication to her craft are undeniable. As she continues to pursue new projects and roles, her impact on the world of television and entertainment will undoubtedly endure.
