Harrowing video captures California cops catching toddler, dog tossed off balcony during massive apartment fire

California police officers in Milpitas made a daring rescue caught on camera, saving a toddler and a dog who were thrown off the balcony of an apartment building engulfed in flames. The heart-wrenching video captured the heroic efforts of the officers as they rushed to the scene of the blaze.

According to the Milpitas Police Department, dispatchers received a frantic call around 3:15 p.m. on a Saturday as an apartment building in Milpitas was on fire, leaving residents trapped on a second-story patio. The officers arrived at the scene in less than two minutes to find the building completely engulfed in flames, prompting them to quickly devise a rescue plan to save the family on the balcony.

In a chilling video, the officers can be seen calling out to the trapped family to drop their 3-year-old child and dog off the balcony. One officer can be heard shouting, “Where’s the baby? Throw her! Throw her! I got her, I got her!” as the toddler is tossed off the terrace into the waiting arms of a cop.

Moments later, the family’s small white dog is also thrown off the balcony, narrowly missing the officer’s hands as it spirals down. Thankfully, both the toddler and the dog were safely caught and no injuries were reported during the heroic rescue.

Milpitas firefighters were able to evacuate the remaining tenants who were trapped in the building. The seamless teamwork between dispatchers, officers, and fire personnel was credited for the successful rescue operation.
