Harvard University issued shelter-in-place order after shooting

The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority Transit Police Department in Boston is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on a subway platform near Harvard University. The incident led to the school issuing a shelter-in-place order for all students and staff as a precautionary measure.
The authorities had to reroute passengers on part of the city’s subway system to shuttle buses while various law enforcement agencies searched for the suspect involved in the shooting. Richard Sullivan, superintendent of the Transit Police Department, mentioned in an email that a man armed with a gun had fired four to five rounds at a targeted individual on the southbound platform at the Harvard Square station. Fortunately, there is no evidence to suggest that the targeted person or anyone else was injured during the incident.
The suspect managed to flee the station before the authorities could apprehend him. Police were alerted to the situation around 2:15 p.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement. A message was subsequently sent out to the Harvard community advising individuals to shelter in the nearest building until further notice, as police conducted a thorough search of the area surrounding the station.
The Harvard Square station is located near the main campus of Harvard University in Cambridge, making it a busy and highly frequented area.
