HBO Max is gearing up for the release of “Song of the Samurai,” a live-action jidaigeki series based on the popular manga franchise “Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem.” The series is set to debut on May 9 and promises to be a thrilling addition to the streaming platform’s lineup.
“Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem” is a manga series created by Umemura Shinya, known for his work on “Record of Ragnarok.” The manga has garnered a dedicated fan base over the years, with 36 volumes and over three million copies sold. The adaptation of this beloved manga is highly anticipated by fans of the genre.
The collaboration between TBS, U-Next, and The Seven brings together some of Japan’s top entertainment companies to produce this series.
