HBO Max Launches in 8 European Territories, Adds Prime Video Bundle

HBO Max Expands into Eight New European Countries

As HBO Max launches in eight new European countries, including Germany, Italy, and Austria, the streaming service has announced a new bundling deal with Prime Video in those territories. This extends their existing partnership in France, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

HBO Max, the global streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery, has now expanded its reach to Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Israel, and Greece. This move brings the service closer to being available across all of Europe, with the U.K. and Ireland set to launch at the end of March.

In addition to their recent distribution deal with Germany’s RTL, HBO Max has secured partnerships in Germany with Prime Video, RTL+, and Waipu.tv. In Switzerland, the service will be available through Sunrise and Swisscom. Italian customers of Telecom Italia’s TIM platform will also have access to HBO Max content.

For the first time in these territories, viewers will have access to content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Universe, and Max Originals all in one place. Popular shows like “The Pitt,” “It: Welcome to Derry,” and “Euphoria,” as well as blockbuster movies like “The Batman” and the “Harry Potter” franchise, will be available on the platform. HBO Max will also broadcast the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 live from Feb. 6 to 22.

CEO and president of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery, JB Perrette, expressed excitement about expanding into these major European economies. He announced that HBO Max will launch in the U.K. and Ireland in late March, completing the service’s rollout across Europe.

Since its U.S. launch in 2020, HBO Max has expanded to Latin America, Europe, and Asia. As of Q3 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery reported 128 million global streaming subscribers, highlighting the platform’s growing popularity.

Despite Netflix’s recent acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery casting doubt on the future of HBO Max, the streamer is pushing forward with its European expansion and continuing to provide high-quality content to viewers around the world.
