Honda recalls nearly 257,000 cars over software flaw that can cause drivers to lose power
Honda Recalls Over 250,000 Vehicles Due to Software Flaw
Honda has issued a recall for 256,603 vehicles due to a software flaw that poses a safety risk for drivers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall, affecting Honda Accord Hybrid vehicles from model years 2023-2025.
The software issue in the affected vehicles could cause a reset while the driver is operating the vehicle, potentially leading to a loss of power and increasing the risk of a crash. To address this issue, Honda dealers will reprogram the faulty software at no cost to owners, as mandated by the government agency.
Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notification letters from Honda starting on January 5, 2026. Alternatively, they can contact Honda’s customer service line at 1-888-234-2138 for more information. The recall number associated with this issue is TN2, and Vehicle Identification Numbers involved in the recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting from November 18.
This recall comes on the heels of another recent recall by Honda, where over 406,000 vehicles were recalled due to a separate defect that could lead to wheel detachment. In a previous instance in June, Honda recalled more than 259,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a brake pedal defect.
Stay Informed
It is crucial for Honda Accord Hybrid owners with model years 2023-2025 to stay informed about the recall and take necessary actions to address the software flaw. Safety should always be a top priority when it comes to vehicle maintenance and compliance with recall notices.
