Honor 500 Release Date Announced as Specs Leak
Honor has officially announced the launch date for its upcoming smartphone, the Honor 500. The Honor 500 series is set to be unveiled on 24 November at 7:30pm China time, which translates to 11:30am in the UK. Pre-order links are already live in China, generating some excitement for the new device.
However, the excitement was somewhat dampened by a leak that surfaced shortly after the official announcement. A tipster on Weibo revealed detailed specifications for both the Honor 500 and the Honor 500 Pro models.
The Honor 500 Pro is expected to feature a 6.55-inch 1.5K display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz. The display will also include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. The device will boast a premium build quality with an all-metal frame and IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance certification. Additionally, the Honor 500 Pro will come equipped with stereo speakers and a design reminiscent of the Google Pixel 10.
Under the hood, the Honor 500 Pro will run on a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with a massive 8000mAh battery that supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. The camera setup is expected to include a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens, along with a 50MP selfie camera.
On the other hand, the Honor 500 model will share some similarities with the Pro variant, including the display, battery, and camera setup. However, it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC. Despite missing out on some features like wireless charging and a dedicated telephoto camera, the Honor 500 is expected to offer solid performance, similar to the Poco F7.
The previous model, the Honor 400, received high praise for its premium design, excellent cameras, long battery life, advanced AI features, and software support. The Honor 500 is anticipated to build on this success and become a competitive mid-range device.
Overall, the leaked specifications for the Honor 500 and Honor 500 Pro suggest that Honor is gearing up to deliver impressive smartphones with a focus on performance, design, and innovative features. Fans will have to wait until the official launch to see if these leaks hold true and what other surprises Honor has in store for its new devices.
