Honor Magic V5 Foldable Specs Officially Revealed

Honor has officially unveiled the specifications for its upcoming foldable smartphone, the Magic V5, setting the stage for a potential challenge for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. The dimensions of the Magic V5 are particularly impressive, measuring just 4.1mm when open and 8.8mm thick when closed, making it thinner than the rumored redesign of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

One of the standout features of the Honor Magic V5 is its massive 5820mAh battery, which is larger than its predecessor, the Magic V3, and significantly bigger than the rumored 4400mAh capacity of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. In terms of design, the Magic V5 boasts the best book-style foldable design currently available, with several upgrades compared to the Magic V3.

Moving on to the camera specifications, the Honor Magic V5 is equipped with a 50MP f/1.6 main camera, a new 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera. Additionally, there are two 20MP selfie cameras, one on the internal screen and one on the external display.

The internal display of the Magic V5 is a 7.95-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz peak refresh rate, a resolution of 2352 x 2172, and a peak brightness of 5000 nits. Honor has also hinted at a ‘Super Armoured Inner Screen’ but has not provided further details at this time.

In terms of design and performance, the Honor Magic V5 is IP58 & IP59 certified for dust and water resistance, surpassing the rumored IP48 certification of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The smartphone will be available in three colors: white and gold, beige, and black.

Powering the Honor Magic V5 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, ensuring flagship-level performance in 2025. The device also comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage as standard in the UK model. While there are still some details to be confirmed, such as the software experience and pricing, the Honor Magic V5 is shaping up to be a premium foldable option.

With its impressive specifications and design, the Honor Magic V5 poses a significant challenge to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. It remains to be seen how Samsung will position the Galaxy Z Fold 7 as the ‘Ultra’ foldable option in 2025, considering the competition from Honor’s latest offering.
