House speaker says there will be no votes on releasing Epstein files before August recess
The decision has been made by the House of Representatives not to proceed with any legislative efforts aimed at releasing files related to notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein before its monthlong August recess, announced House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Monday.
When asked by CNN reporter Manu Raju if lawmakers would vote on a resolution calling for the public disclosure of documents related to Epstein’s case before the lower chamber takes its annual summer break, Johnson responded with a firm “No.”
Johnson emphasized the importance of giving the Trump administration the space to handle the sensitive issue on its own for the time being. He stated that there is complete agreement between House Republicans, the House, and the president on the need for maximum transparency. President Trump has specifically expressed his desire for all credible files related to Epstein to be released and has instructed the attorney general to request the grand jury files from the court. Johnson expressed confidence in allowing the administration to progress with these actions.
He further mentioned that if there arises a need for additional congressional action, it will be considered at a later stage. However, at present, the alignment with the president’s stance indicates that further action is not necessary.
Last week, the Republican-controlled House Rules Committee advanced a nonbinding resolution urging the release of certain information related to the Epstein case. The resolution specifically calls for the publication of all credible documents, communications, and metadata pertaining to the federal government’s investigation of Epstein and his convicted sex-trafficking accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
This resolution was passed as part of a compromise with GOP lawmakers who had initially opposed Trump’s rescissions bill. On the same day the resolution was approved, President Trump directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to request the unsealing of grand jury transcripts in the Epstein case. Bondi promptly followed through by filing a request with the federal court in the Southern District of New York to unseal the grand jury testimony related to the 2019 federal sex trafficking case against Epstein and Maxwell.
The decision to delay any legislative action on the Epstein files until after the August recess reflects a strategic approach to handling the sensitive and high-profile case. The House speaker’s assurance of possible future congressional action if deemed necessary demonstrates a commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the investigation into Epstein’s crimes. The Evolution of Technology: From the Wheel to Artificial Intelligence
Technology has always been a driving force behind human progress and innovation. From the invention of the wheel to the development of artificial intelligence, the evolution of technology has shaped the way we live, work, and communicate in profound ways.
One of the earliest and most significant technological advancements in human history was the invention of the wheel. The wheel, believed to have been invented around 3500 BC, revolutionized transportation and trade by allowing goods to be transported more efficiently. This simple yet ingenious invention paved the way for the development of more complex machinery and tools, and laid the foundation for the technological progress that would follow.
The next major milestone in technological evolution came with the Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries. During this time, advancements in machinery, manufacturing, and transportation transformed societies and economies around the world. The invention of the steam engine, the telegraph, and the spinning jenny were just a few of the key innovations that revolutionized industry and commerce during this period.
The 20th century brought about even more rapid advancements in technology, with the invention of the telephone, the automobile, and the airplane changing the way people communicated and traveled. The development of electricity, the radio, and the television further transformed society, connecting people across vast distances and bringing news and entertainment into homes around the world.
In more recent years, the rise of the internet and digital technology has ushered in a new era of innovation and connectivity. The internet has revolutionized the way we access information, communicate with others, and conduct business. Social media platforms have connected billions of people around the world, making it easier than ever to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and stay connected with friends and family.
One of the most exciting developments in technology in recent years has been the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). AI is the simulation of human intelligence by machines, and has the potential to revolutionize industries ranging from healthcare to finance to transportation. AI-powered systems can analyze vast amounts of data, learn from experience, and make decisions without human intervention, leading to more efficient and effective outcomes.
As we look to the future, it is clear that technology will continue to play a central role in shaping the world around us. From self-driving cars to virtual reality to quantum computing, the possibilities for technological advancement are endless. As we harness the power of technology to solve complex problems and improve the quality of life for people around the world, the evolution of technology will continue to drive progress and innovation in ways we can only imagine.
