How police ID’d surgeon ex-husband Michael McKee in murders of Ohio dentist and wife

The accused killer surgeon charged in the murders of Ohio dentist Spencer Tepe and his wife, Monique, was identified through surveillance footage near the couple’s home, according to court documents. Michael David McKee, a doctor from Chicago, was arrested for the brutal killing of his ex-wife Monique and her second husband Spencer in the upscale Columbus neighborhood of Weinland Park.

Authorities were able to link McKee to the crime by tracking his vehicle, which was seen near the murder scene on the night of the killings. The car was later found near McKee’s workplace in Rockford, Illinois, and evidence linking him to the vehicle was discovered by detectives.

McKee and Monique were previously married from 2015 until their divorce in 2017. The divorce was finalized when McKee was living in Virginia, and the couple had no children together. The motive for the shooting has not been disclosed by police.

McKee was arrested and charged with two counts of murder after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He is set to be extradited to Columbus for a hearing scheduled on Monday. The Tepes were found dead in their home after Spencer’s colleague became concerned when he didn’t show up for work. Their two children, ages 1 and 4, were found unharmed inside the house.

Surveillance footage of a hooded figure walking near the couple’s home around the time of the murders was released by Columbus police. It remains unclear if the person in the video is McKee.

The investigation into the murders of Spencer and Monique Tepe continues, as authorities work to uncover more details surrounding the tragic incident.
