‘How to Get to Heaven From Belfast’ Reveals Trailer, Release Date
Lisa McGee, the creator of the popular series “Derry Girls,” is back with a new comedy thriller on Netflix titled “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast.” The show has unveiled a twisty trailer and is set to premiere on Feb. 12.
The eight-episode series follows three close friends: Saoirse (Roísín Gallagher), a clever and chaotic TV writer, Robyn (Sinéad Keenan), a glamorous and stressed-out mother of three, and Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne), a dependable and inhibited carer. Now in their late 30s, these friends are about to embark on the most thrilling adventure of their lives.
The show’s official synopsis teases, “When an email arrives, telling them about the death of the estranged fourth member of their childhood gang, a series of eerie events at her wake set them on a dark, dangerous and hilarious odyssey through Ireland and beyond as each tries to piece together the truth of the past. A show about friendship, memory and what happens when life doesn’t turn out quite like you’d expected.”
Written and created by Lisa McGee, “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast” is directed by Michael Lennox, known for his work on “Derry Girls,” and produced by Brian J. Falconer. The series is a production of Hat Trick Productions, with executive producers including McGee, Lennox, Caroline Leddy, Liz Lewin, Jimmy Mulville, and Jessica Sharkey.
McGee’s previous series, “Derry Girls,” premiered on Channel 4 in the U.K. in 2018 and gained international acclaim when it was picked up by Netflix. The show helped launch the career of actress Nicola Coughlan, who went on to star in the hit series “Bridgerton.”
