Hulu and Disney+ Merger – Here’s All Your Questions Answered
Disney+ subscribers in the UK and Europe can look forward to a new integration coming soon. The Hulu library will be rebranded as Hulu, unifying the app across the pond. This move will bring popular series and films like The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, and Poor Things under the Hulu label.
In the US, the integration of Hulu into the Disney+ app has been ongoing, but the content is not bundled into a full subscription like in the UK. American subscribers will see a complete merger of Disney+ and Hulu into one unified app by 2026, promising an improved consumer experience.
For UK subscribers, there is no need to worry about price increases as Disney has not announced any imminent hikes. The Star tile will simply be rebranded as Hulu, with content remaining the same. The change is expected to roll out globally in Autumn, with more updates to come.
American subscribers who only have Disney+ or Hulu standalone memberships do not need to pay more for the bundle. Both services will still be available as standalone subscriptions. However, those interested in accessing Hulu content can do so using a VPN to watch the international version of Disney+.
As for pricing, standalone costs for Disney+ and Hulu in the US range from $7.99 to $95.99 per month, depending on the plan. Bundles combining Disney+ and Hulu start at $10.99 per month for the Basic Duo and go up to $26.99 per month for the Premium Trio.
ESPN+ content is also integrated into the Disney+ app for subscribers of the Disney Bundle Trio. A standalone ESPN streaming membership will launch soon for $29.99 per month.
The integration of Hulu into the Disney+ library aims to increase viewing hours and drive more subscribers to the bundles, ultimately increasing profitability for Disney. With subscription losses in 2023, Disney is exploring new ways to attract and retain customers. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting integration.
