Husband busted for gunning down wife, 45, in daylight NYC attack: cops
A shocking incident unfolded in Queens last month, as a 62-year-old man, identified as Audwin Caines, was arrested for allegedly fatally shooting his 45-year-old wife, Chaneil Ramsay, in broad daylight. The tragic incident occurred on June 23 around 2:30 p.m. on 127th Avenue near 176th Street in South Jamaica, just blocks away from Ramsay’s residence.
Caines, reportedly homeless, opened fire on Ramsay, firing multiple shots at her on the sidewalk. The victim succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head, collapsing unconscious and unresponsive on the pavement. The scene was a harrowing sight as Ramsay lay face down, awaiting medical attention.
Following the shooting, Caines fled the scene, prompting his 21-year-old stepdaughter to contact law enforcement. Despite his attempts to evade capture, the NYPD’s Regional Fugitive Task Force managed to apprehend Caines more than three weeks later on Tuesday afternoon.
Charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment, Caines now awaits his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court. The motive behind the heinous act remains unclear, leaving authorities and the community puzzled by the senseless violence.
The tragic loss of Chaneil Ramsay has left a void in the hearts of her loved ones, as they grapple with the sudden and brutal nature of her passing. The community mourns the loss of a vibrant soul, taken too soon in a moment of unfathomable violence.
As the investigation unfolds and justice seeks to prevail, the memory of Chaneil Ramsay will be honored, and her legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, and may her tragic story serve as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment with those we hold dear.
