‘I don’t know’: Trump says of Israeli claim there’s no starvation crisis in Gaza
In a recent meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed uncertainty about Israeli Prime Minister Nethanyahu’s claim that there is no starvation crisis in Gaza. When asked about the situation, Trump admitted, “I don’t know,” before acknowledging the heartbreaking images of starving children in Gaza that have been circulating on television.
During the meeting, Starmer interjected, labeling the situation in Gaza as a humanitarian crisis and describing it as “an absolute catastrophe.” These comments came shortly after the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 14 more individuals, including two children, had succumbed to malnutrition in the past 24 hours. Additionally, the ministry disclosed that 29 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli airstrikes since midnight, with another 11 fatalities occurring near aid distribution sites on Monday morning.
Reports from local hospitals indicated that these aid distribution sites were operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a group supported by the U.S. and Israel. However, a spokesperson for the foundation denied any knowledge of such incidents when contacted by ABC News.
In response to the escalating crisis, Israel announced plans to implement daily military pauses in densely populated areas to facilitate the delivery of aid to Gaza. The international community has been urged to step up efforts to address the dire situation in the region.
As this story continues to develop, stay tuned for further updates on the evolving situation in Gaza.
