Ian Watkins’ ex shocked pedo Lostprophets rocker wasn’t murdered ‘earlier’

An ex-girlfriend who played a crucial role in exposing Ian Watkins, the former lead singer of Lostprophets, as a dangerous pedophile, has expressed her satisfaction at his murder in prison. Joanne Mjadzelics revealed that she had been anticipating this news, stating that Watkins had a target on his back from the moment he entered prison. She admitted that she was surprised it hadn’t happened sooner.

Mjadzelics, who had been in a relationship with Watkins, confessed that she had lived in constant fear of him seeking revenge on her for her involvement in revealing his crimes prior to his 2013 conviction. She described his death in prison as a relief, claiming that she had wanted him dead for a long time due to the horrific acts he committed. Mjadzelics emphasized that the man she had fallen in love with was a manipulative character, and the true Watkins was a stranger to her.

Watkins, who was 48 years old at the time of his death, had been serving a 29-year sentence for a range of sex crimes, including offenses against infants. The shocking details of his crimes came to light during his trial, where it was revealed that he had engaged in depraved acts involving child pornography and bestiality.

Despite his success as a rock star with Lostprophets, Watkins’ career came to a halt when he was arrested in 2012. Following a police search of his residence, incriminating evidence was uncovered, leading to his eventual imprisonment.

His brutal murder in prison occurred as he was leaving his cell, with an inmate attacking him with a shank and inflicting fatal injuries. The violent nature of the killing shocked prison officials and inmates alike, with sources describing it as particularly brutal even by prison standards.

This was not the first time Watkins had faced violence behind bars. In 2023, he was held hostage by fellow inmates and subjected to a prolonged beating over an alleged drug debt. Mjadzelics remarked that this was the second time someone had targeted him in such a manner, indicating that she had expected it to happen sooner given the nature of his crimes.

While Watkins’ killer has been apprehended, along with another individual connected to the murder, Mjadzelics expressed a sense of closure following his death. She reiterated that she never truly knew the man she once loved, and that his demise brought a sense of relief and a weight lifted from her shoulders.
