If they are not in the team, every team will be happy

Afghanistan’s rising star Rahmanullah Gurbaz recently shared his thoughts on Indian cricket legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli during the ongoing ODI series between India and South Africa. Gurbaz, known for his explosive batting style, expressed his views on the stalwarts potentially playing in the 2027 World Cup.

The debate surrounding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s inclusion in the Indian squad for the upcoming World Cup has been a hot topic of discussion. Gurbaz humorously suggested that Afghanistan would have a better chance of winning if the duo were not a part of the team. He cheekily added that every team would be delighted if Rohit and Kohli were not in the lineup. However, he acknowledged the undeniable talent and stature of the two players, stating that no one could deny them the opportunity to play in the World Cup.

“As an Afghanistan player, I will be happy if they are not in the team. If they are not there, we will have more chance to win. They are legends. There is no chance for someone to come and say that Virat and Rohit should not be in the team. If they are not in the team, every team will be happy. They are such big names and also very good players,” Gurbaz remarked.

The participation of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the 2027 World Cup will ultimately depend on their form and consistent performances leading up to the tournament. Both players have been under scrutiny and pressure to deliver consistently and secure their spots in the squad for the mega event.

In a recent ODI against South Africa, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli silenced their critics with a match-winning partnership. Batting first, India posted a formidable total of 349/8 on the board, thanks to the duo’s stellar performance. Rohit and Kohli combined forces to put up 136 runs for the second wicket in just 109 balls, laying the foundation for a big score. While Rohit scored a brisk 57 off 51 balls, including five boundaries and three sixes, Kohli stole the show with a brilliant century. The Indian captain scored 135 runs off 120 balls, featuring 11 fours and seven sixes.
