Inside Connecticut house of horrors where stepmom ‘locked up son’

The eerie photographs reveal the disturbing interior of a Connecticut home where a stepmother allegedly imprisoned her stepson in horrifying conditions for over twenty years. The images, obtained by The Post, show the aftermath of a fire that the stepson set to escape from his captor.

The house, located in Waterbury, now stands empty and in severe disrepair. Most of the rooms have been reduced to bare beams and boards, with drywall and plaster ripped off the walls. Loose wires, debris, and broken glass litter the dark halls, making the house uninhabitable.

One room, however, remains untouched by the fire, offering a glimpse into the stepmother’s tastes. In a hot pink den on the first floor, a pair of women’s eyes with full red lips gaze across the room to a poster of a kitten with “Lazy Days” written on it. A doll with blond hair and blue eyes hangs in the corner, adding to the unsettling atmosphere.

In the kitchen, a half-melted poster of Marilyn Monroe hangs over the counter. Upstairs, the alcove where the stepson was allegedly held captive has been destroyed by the fire, but a stained lace angel’s wing remains pinned to the wall, serving as a chilling reminder of his ordeal.

The stepson, known only as “S,” was rescued by firefighters weighing only 68 pounds and covered in filth. He told investigators that he had been locked in an 8-by-9-foot storage space for more than two decades, deprived of food and water for most of the day.

The stepmother, Kimberly Sullivan, was arrested and charged with unlawful restraint, kidnapping, and other abuse charges. She denies the allegations, claiming that her late husband, the stepson’s father, was responsible for his treatment.

Despite posting bail and being allowed to return to the house, Sullivan has not been seen by neighbors since the court ruling. The stepson, who neighbors were unaware of until his rescue, is also nowhere to be found.

Sullivan’s attorney maintains her innocence, stating that she has never committed a crime before. She is scheduled to appear in court on Halloween to face the charges against her. The haunting images of the house of horrors serve as a reminder of the unimaginable suffering that took place within its walls.
