‘Intimidation Never Goes Out of Style’
AJ Galante, the former teenage general manager of the mob-tied pro hockey team, is making a comeback in the hockey world as the new general manager of the Danbury Hat Tricks, an entry-level pro team based in Connecticut. Galante, now 38, is ready to bring back the toughness and intimidation factor that made the Danbury Trashers famous.
The story of the Danbury Trashers, named after the Galante family’s garbage-hauling business, gained popularity after being featured in a Netflix documentary. Players were treated like big league stars, given “no-show jobs,” and under-the-table money until the FBI intervened. In 2008, Galante’s father, Jimmy, admitted to charges of racketeering, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and defrauding the IRS. He was forced to forfeit his interests in various garbage-related businesses worth over $100 million and served a seven-year sentence.
Despite the downfall of the Danbury Trashers, Galante is excited to continue the legacy with the Danbury Hat Tricks. Demand for Trashers jerseys has surged, with celebrities like Drake and Fabolous spotted wearing them. Galante has been involved in various ventures, including running a boxing gym and developing a UFC-style hockey fight circuit called Ice Wars. He most recently served as the Hat Tricks’ senior advisor before taking on the role of general manager.
The Danbury Hat Tricks, part of the Federal Prospects Hockey League, are set to kick off their season on October 10 at Danbury Arena. Galante is determined to bring back the toughness that fans crave while prioritizing winning. He understands the importance of balancing toughness with performance on the ice.
As Galante embarks on this new chapter in his hockey career, he is focused on building upon the rich history of the Danbury Trashers and creating a successful future for the Danbury Hat Tricks. The boss is back, and he’s ready to clean up the trash once again.
