Investigators release video of possible abduction, showing woman screaming as she’s pulled away
Wichita police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a woman who was reportedly taken by force early Sunday morning, causing concern among neighbors in the area. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of North Volutsia, between Grove and Hillside, around 2 a.m. on October 12.
Authorities have released photos and surveillance footage of the woman, but so far, neither she nor the man seen in the footage has been identified. Police are exploring all possibilities and have enlisted the help of regional and federal agencies in their investigation.
The 20-second clip shows the woman being dragged away from a front door while screaming for help. The footage was captured by a residential security camera, a common feature in the neighborhood. Investigators have enhanced the audio of the video to reduce background noise in the hopes that someone may recognize the woman’s voice.
Police are urging residents to carefully review the footage and contact detectives at 316-268-4407 with any information that may help in identifying the individuals involved. They emphasized the importance of community assistance in ensuring the woman’s safety.
Despite following up on a call from Oklahoma initially thought to be related to the case, investigators later determined it to be unrelated. One resident expressed concern for the safety of young women in the area, stating that while it is a dangerous situation, she had never witnessed anything like this in her neighborhood before.
As of Monday afternoon, there have been no significant updates in the case. Police are diligently analyzing the video frame by frame in search of any details that could lead to the identification of the individuals involved. The community’s support and cooperation are crucial in resolving this unsettling incident.
