Irate NYC subway rider pummels man who bumped into him on train after demanding apology: cops

Man Assaulted on Brooklyn Subway Train After Accidental Bump
An incident on a northbound J train in Brooklyn late last month turned violent when a man was assaulted by another rider after an accidental bump, according to police reports.
The 36-year-old victim was on board the train at Kosciuszko Street station in Bushwick when he inadvertently knocked into a stranger. Instead of letting it go, the irate stranger demanded an apology from the victim.
Without warning, the aggressor proceeded to punch the victim multiple times in the face and body before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical attention.
Authorities released surveillance footage of the suspect, described as a man with a medium complexion and dreadlocks, last seen wearing a gray rain jacket, blue jeans, and white sneakers.
This incident comes in the wake of another assault in the city’s transit system, where a 73-year-old woman was attacked by a 36-year-old woman on a southbound E train. The victim sustained bruises from the assault.

The suspect in the second assault was arraigned in court and granted supervised release, despite prosecutors’ request for bail. Meanwhile, crime in the city’s transit system has seen a 5.6% decrease compared to the same period last year, with 186 incidents reported so far in 2025.
