Is Spotify down? Thousands report problems with music streaming app
Reports of widespread technical issues have plagued Spotify users worldwide on Wednesday morning, with tens of thousands experiencing problems with the popular music and audio streaming service. Users have reported difficulties loading the app and website, playing songs, and using the search function. However, the disruptions appear to be decreasing as the day progresses.
According to Downdetector, there were over 20,000 outage reports for Spotify globally as of 10:45 a.m. ET on Wednesday, down from a peak of over 48,000 earlier.
On X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Spotify acknowledged the issues, stating that they are investigating. The company’s support account, SpotifyCares, assured users that the right team is working on a fix.
While Spotify did not provide specific details on the cause of the outage, they debunked rumors of a security hack. Some users also reported issues accessing the platform’s support site.
Spotify, with over 675 million users globally and 263 million subscribers across 180 markets, continues to address the technical difficulties impacting its service.
