Tate’s family confirmed her passing from a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease in a statement provided to CBS News. The actress had recently returned to acting and landed a role on the series “9-1-1: Nashville,” where she had a wonderful time filming.
In an emotional Instagram post from 2022, Tate had opened up about being diagnosed with a progressive neuromuscular disease at the age of 13, which weakened her legs over time. Tate’s online obituary described her as a fighter, never making excuses for her disability and living life to the fullest.
Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Tate graduated from Middle Tennessee State University before pursuing her acting career. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, also known as CMT, is a group of inherited conditions that cause nerve damage and muscle weakness. Symptoms typically manifest in the teen years or early adulthood and can include trouble walking, loss of sensation in the legs and feet, tremors, and vision or hearing problems.
While there is currently no cure for CMT, treatments such as physical therapy, orthopedic devices, surgery, and medication can help manage symptoms. Complications from the disease, such as injuries from falls or breathing difficulties, may require additional support like nighttime breathing assistive devices.
Isabelle Tate’s legacy as a talented actress and courageous individual will live on, inspiring others to embrace life with strength and resilience. May she rest in peace.
