Israeli military issues full evacuation order for all of Gaza City
Israel issued a stern order on Tuesday, calling for the residents of Gaza City to evacuate immediately. The Israeli military announced that it would be operating “with great force” within the city, making it extremely dangerous for civilians to remain.
Avichay Adraee, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, took to social media to emphasize the urgency of the situation, warning residents that staying in the city posed a significant risk to their safety. The order to evacuate came after the Israeli government approved a plan to seize Gaza City, the largest urban center in the besieged enclave. Ground operations had already commenced in the city a week prior.
The primary objective of the Israeli military’s planned seizure is to eliminate Hamas, the militant organization that has been a longstanding adversary in Gaza since October 2023. Despite the gravity of the situation and the evacuation warnings issued, there are still many residents who have chosen to remain in the city. Some have cited financial constraints that prevent them from affording the costs of evacuation and transportation, while others express concerns about the lack of available space in humanitarian zones or uncertainty about their safety post-evacuation.
Adraee reiterated the need for immediate evacuation, directing residents to head south towards Al-Mawasi, a designated humanitarian zone along the coast. The evacuation order was preceded by a direct warning from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself, who addressed the residents of Gaza City in a video message posted on Telegram, urging them to heed the evacuation order for their own safety.
As tensions escalate and the situation in Gaza City grows increasingly precarious, the Israeli military’s call for evacuation underscores the urgency of the current crisis. The safety and well-being of civilians remain a top priority in the midst of heightened military operations and conflict.
