Jamie Raskin Slams ‘DUI Hire’ Pete Hegseth

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) criticized Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ahead of President Donald Trump’s military parade. Raskin was discussing an answer Hegseth gave at a hearing, where he implied that local judges should not determine foreign or national security policy. Raskin called out Hegseth for excessive drinking, referring to him as a “DUI hire.” Additionally, Raskin emphasized the importance of upholding the Constitution and executing laws faithfully, stating that the president’s role is not that of a supreme leader but to ensure the enforcement of laws passed by Congress. The remarks from the Maryland Democrat come in light of Trump’s upcoming military parade and amidst nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations on Saturday. The president had previously warned that protesters at the parade would face severe consequences.

Raskin also addressed recent attacks on dissent by the Trump administration, such as Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) being detained at Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s press conference and Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.)

“The right to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the right to petition the government for grievances, and the right of the people to assemble freely is the antithesis of having a monarch, as kings do not tolerate dissent,” Raskin emphasized. “They do not allow for people to express themselves freely.”

The song was rewritten by the artist. following sentence in a more concise way:
