‘Jane the Virgin’ Jaime Camil Leads New Banijay Mexico Docu Series

Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic, a division of Banijay Americas, is preparing for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup with a new travel documentary series titled “Tres hinchapelotas” (working title), which translates to “Three Fans, One Goal.”

The show will feature three well-known Latino personalities – Jaime Camil from “Jane the Virgin,” Marcelo Tinelli from “Videomatch,” and Jorge Enrique Abello from “Ugly Betty.” Together, they will embark on a journey to explore the essence of soccer in each city they visit, from sampling local cuisine to experiencing the vibrant nightlife, ultimately culminating their adventure in Mexico City.

Marie Leguizamo, the managing director of Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic, described the series as more than just a typical travel show, emphasizing that it will be an emotional rollercoaster through different cities, cultures, and fan bases, led by three Latin showbiz legends who are passionate about soccer.

Jaime Camil, known for his versatile acting career, including roles in “Jane the Virgin” and portraying Vicente Fernandez in “El Rey,” expressed his excitement for the upcoming series. As a co-owner of the LAFC soccer team and a dedicated soccer fan, Camil is eager to share this unique experience with viewers.

Jorge Enrique Abello, famous for his role as Don Armando in the Colombian telenovela “Ugly Betty,” highlighted the element of risk-taking in the project, praising the opportunity to work with Leguizamo and his co-stars on this extraordinary journey.

Marcelo Tinelli, a former sportscaster and host of “Videomatch,” brings his passion for soccer and travel to the series. Tinelli, who also presided over the San Lorenzo soccer club, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that working with Jaime and Jorge motivates him greatly.

The collaboration between these three dynamic personalities promises to deliver an engaging and entertaining travel experience for viewers leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
