Jennifer Aniston Bonds With Jennette McCurdy

Jennifer Aniston to Star in Series Based on Jennette McCurdy’s Memoir

Jennifer Aniston is set to take on the eponymous role in an upcoming series based on Jennette McCurdy’s 2022 memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” Before stepping into the role, Aniston got to know the child-actor-turned-author and quickly bonded with her. Aniston mentioned that they have a lot in common and had very similar relationships with their mothers.

McCurdy rose to fame at a young age, starring in the Nickelodeon sitcom “iCarly” and its spinoff “Sam and Cat.” In her memoir, McCurdy shares her tumultuous experience as a child star, focusing on the influence of her obsessive and abusive mother, Debra, who passed away in 2013.

Apple TV has greenlit a series adaptation of McCurdy’s book, with Aniston set to executive produce and star as a fictional version of the titular mom. Aniston expressed her excitement to work on the project, calling the memoir beautifully written and praising McCurdy as a remarkable young woman.

Drawing parallels between McCurdy and Aniston’s relationships with their mothers, Aniston hinted at a contentious relationship with her late mother, Nancy Dow. She has previously discussed the challenges she faced in living up to her mother’s expectations.

The series, titled “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” will consist of ten episodes and will be created, written, and showrun by McCurdy and Ari Katcher. Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay are also onboard as executive producers.
