Jimmy Kimmel on How the Oscars Are Held in a Hollywood Shopping Mall

Jimmy Kimmel Reveals Oscars are Held in a Shopping Mall

Jimmy Kimmel, the four-time host of the Oscars, shared some interesting insights on his show “Jimmy Kimmel Live” about the prestigious awards ceremony. The Dolby Theatre, where the Oscars take place, is actually located in a shopping mall called Ovation Hollywood (formerly known as Hollywood and Highland). This unique location has been home to the Oscars since 2002, adding an interesting twist to the glitz and glamour of the event.

Kimmel humorously described the aftermath of the Oscars as a transformation akin to Cinderella’s midnight spell, turning the neighborhood into a chaotic scene. He highlighted the fact that many viewers around the world may not be aware that the Oscars are held in a mall, complete with familiar stores like Foot Locker and Johnny Rockets. He even joked about Barbra Streisand’s proximity to a Hot Topic store during the event.

Reflecting on the winners of the night, Kimmel mentioned the success of “One Battle After Another” and the strong performance of “Sinners,” with Michael B. Jordan winning best actor. He playfully added that Jordan is so successful now that he’s considering retiring from acting to pursue a career in baseball.

Other highlights of the evening included “Golden” from “KPop Demon Hunters” winning best original song and a surprising tie for best live action short, a rare occurrence at the Oscars. Kimmel suggested a humorous solution for breaking ties at the awards show, adding a playful touch to the evening’s events.

Shifting gears, Kimmel addressed President Trump’s recent actions regarding the war on Iran and his attacks on the free press, particularly singling out FCC chairman Brendan Carr. Kimmel criticized Carr’s threats to revoke licenses of TV stations based on their coverage, emphasizing the importance of freedom of the press.

Trump’s response to Carr’s actions sparked further commentary from Kimmel, who humorously responded to the president’s remarks about “Corrupt and Highly Unpatriotic ‘News’ Organizations.” Kimmel, along with his fellow late-night hosts, received a sarcastic thank you from Trump for their attention to the matter.
