John Malkovich Joins Joel Kinnaman in Amazon Cop Drama Series ‘Bishop’
John Malkovich is set to star alongside Joel Kinnaman in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series “Bishop,” as confirmed by Variety. The show was greenlit by Prime Video in September 2025, with the official logline revealing that the story revolves around homicide detective Bishop Graves (played by Kinnaman), who is tasked with hunting down a mysterious killer targeting the affluent elite of San Francisco. As the killer gains a cult-like following among the marginalized population, Bishop becomes convinced that the murders are linked to his own father, the powerful Lincoln Graves (played by Malkovich).
Malkovich, a highly acclaimed actor with a diverse body of work spanning film, TV, and theater, has garnered recognition for his performances. His recent TV credits include roles in “Space Force” on Netflix, “Billions” on Showtime, and “The New Pope” on HBO. He has received two Academy Award nominations for his roles in “In the Line of Fire” and “Places in the Heart,” as well as three Emmy Award nominations, winning once for his portrayal in the 1986 TV movie adaptation of “Death of a Salesman.”
In addition to his screen work, Malkovich has also made a name for himself on stage, collaborating with Chicago’s renowned Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Some of his notable film roles include “Being John Malkovich,” “Burn After Reading,” and “Of Mice and Men.”
The series “Bishop” is created and executive produced by Little Marvin and Tony Saltzman, with Little Marvin also serving as the showrunner. Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo are also onboard as executive producers. The show is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios, where Little Marvin has an overall deal.
