Johnnie Bryant available for Knicks after Suns hire Jordan Ott

The New York Knicks are on the hunt for a new head coach after the surprising firing of Tom Thibodeau. With the Phoenix Suns selecting Jordan Ott as their new head coach over former Knicks assistant Johnnie Bryant, there is speculation that Bryant could be the answer to the Knicks’ coaching search.
Bryant, who served as the Knicks’ associate head coach from 2020-2024 under Thibodeau, was a finalist for the Suns’ head coaching position. However, the Suns ultimately chose Ott, who is currently an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Thibodeau, who led the Knicks for five seasons, was let go shortly after the team’s elimination from the Eastern Conference finals. Bryant’s experience working with Thibodeau and his knowledge of the team could make him a strong candidate to lead the Knicks in the future.
After leaving the Knicks, Bryant joined the Cavaliers as their associate head coach for the 2024-25 season. The Cavaliers had a successful season, finishing with the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 64-18. However, they were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers.
Ott, on the other hand, will be taking over as the head coach of the Suns, replacing Mike Budenholzer. Budenholzer was fired after a disappointing 36-46 season with the Suns.
As the Knicks continue their search for a new head coach, Bryant’s name could be at the top of their list. His experience with the team and his success with the Cavaliers make him a strong contender for the position. Stay tuned for more updates on the Knicks’ coaching search and the future of the team.
