Jon Stewart Slams Fox News Response to No Kings Protests

In the latest episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart took aim at Fox News for their inconsistent response to the No Kings protests that took place over the weekend. Stewart began his monologue by highlighting clips of House Speaker Mike Johnson and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent criticizing the protests as a “hate America rally” and labeling participants as “the farthest left, the hardest core, the most unhinged in the Democratic party.”

With his trademark wit, Stewart quipped about the exaggerated reactions to the protests, jokingly referencing “Mad Max” and Chuck Schumer playing a flaming guitar. He mockingly portrayed the fear-mongering surrounding the event, with people allegedly prepared for the worst, only to witness a peaceful and joyful demonstration.

Contrasting Fox News’ portrayal of the protests as “silly” and “dumb,” Stewart pointed out the disconnect in their narrative. From expecting a terrifying display of Marxism to dismissing the protests as uneventful due to “absurdist costumes,” Fox News seemed unsure of how to characterize the event.

One particular criticism from Fox News that Stewart found ironic was their complaint that the protests were predominantly attended by “old white people.” He humorously highlighted the contradiction in Fox News lamenting the presence of angry old white people, despite their own demographic being largely composed of the same group.

Ultimately, Stewart’s commentary on Fox News’ reaction to the No Kings protests served as a satirical critique of the network’s shifting narratives and sensationalism. The monologue showcased Stewart’s ability to dissect and lampoon media coverage with sharp humor and astute observations.
