Jon Stewart Slams Trump for Saying He Has Nothing to Hide With Epstein
On the latest episode of “The Daily Show,” Jon Stewart took aim at Donald Trump for his inconsistent response to the release of thousands of emails related to the Jeffrey Epstein files last week.
Stewart kicked off his monologue by poking fun at one of the most talked-about emails from the approximately 20,000 Epstein emails that surfaced on Nov. 12. The email in question was from Epstein’s brother Mark, urging him to inquire with former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon about whether “Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba.”
“Jeffrey Epstein had a brother?” Stewart quipped. “Apparently he did. And as for the second thing you might be thinking…” Stewart let a news clip finish his sentence: “Mark Epstein issued a statement clarifying that the name ‘Bubba’ was not a reference to former president Bill Clinton.”
“Thank you for the clarification. Case closed,” Stewart sarcastically remarked.
The late-night host then shifted his focus to Trump’s sudden reversal in support of releasing the Epstein files after months of resistance to making them public. Playing a clip from WJHL News, Stewart highlighted Trump’s recent Truth Social post urging House Republicans to vote for the release of the Epstein files because “we have nothing to hide.”
“If there was nothing to hide, he could have declassified and released these files himself at any time,” Stewart pointed out. “How do I know this? Well, a legal expert by the name of Donald ‘Jurisprudence’ Trump said so.”
Stewart then aired a clip of Trump speaking to Fox News in 2022, where he claimed, “If you’re the president of the United States, you can declassify just by saying it’s declassified. Even by thinking about it.”
“It’s quite evident that he doesn’t want these documents out there,” Stewart remarked. “This is apparent even from his nonsensical response in the Oval Office today.”
In another clip from CNN, Trump asserted, “We have no ties to Epstein. It’s the Democrats who do. All of his associates were Democrats. Look at Reid Hoffman. Look at Larry Summers, Bill Clinton.”
Stewart retorted, “We have tried to look at those individuals, but every time we do, your image pops up,” before showing a photo of Trump and Epstein together.
