Jonathan Groff Smooches Bowen Yang
Jonathan Groff and Bowen Yang stole the show with their warm and flirty moment during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Broadway and “Saturday Night Live” stars showcased their chemistry during a dance number at the beginning of Groff’s performance with his “Just in Time” cast. The performance culminated in Groff kissing Yang on the hand. Groff leads the Broadway musical, which delves into the life of singer Bobby Darin.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a massive hit for NBC and Peacock, attracting over 31 million viewers last year. This year’s parade was no exception, with viewers eagerly tuning in to catch all the excitement.
During a recent Broadway Actors on Actors interview, Groff discussed his role in “Just in Time” with “Sunset Blvd.” star Nicole Scherzinger. He talked about the challenge of portraying a real person from a different world, such as Bobby Darin.
“Bobby Darin was this playboy crooner,” Groff explained. “I’m this guy from Amish country Pennsylvania. Who would think we had that much in common? But we both have this deep, passionate connection with the audience. We say it’s the only relationship he was any good at. This immersive experience of being in the audience, looking in people’s eyes … I’m showering them with sweat and spit. It’s like I’m a sprinkler going around.”
The talented cast of “Just in Time” also includes Sarah Hyland, Sadie Dickerson, Emily Bergl, and Joseph Barbara, who all contribute to the success of the Broadway musical.
Bowen Yang, known for his role in “Wicked: For Good,” is no stranger to the world of musicals. The show has been a box office hit this holiday season, with projections indicating an additional $100 million in revenue from Wednesday to Sunday.
