Josh Lowe, Gavin Lux dealt in three-team trade

The baseball offseason was filled with excitement as multiple teams made significant moves in a short span of time. Kyle Tucker quickly came off the market, followed by a three-team trade involving the Rays, Reds, and Angels.

According to a report by ESPN’s Jeff Passan, outfielder Josh Lowe is set to join the Angels, while infielder Gavin Lux and right-hander Chris Clark are heading to Tampa Bay. The Reds will receive left-handed reliever Brock Burke in the trade.

Lowe, who has spent his entire career with the Rays, brings a lot of potential to the Angels, provided he can stay healthy after battling injuries in the past two seasons. The Rays seemed to be counting on him to have a bounce-back season, with Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander expressing confidence in Lowe’s abilities. Neander mentioned that Lowe had been working hard during the offseason and showed faith that he could return to his 2023 form when he hit .292 with 20 home runs and 32 stolen bases.

On the other hand, Lux, who played 140 games for the Reds last season, will provide the Rays with versatility as he can play multiple positions in the infield and outfield. Lux batted .269 with five home runs and 53 RBIs in the previous season, adding depth to Tampa Bay’s roster.

Burke’s addition to the Reds’ bullpen gives them another left-handed reliever. Burke had a successful season with the Angels, posting a 3.36 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 61 ⅓ innings pitched.

Clark, who pitched at multiple levels of the minors last season, adds to the depth of the Rays’ pitching staff. His experience and versatility will be valuable for Tampa Bay as they look to strengthen their bullpen for the upcoming season.

Overall, the trade involving Lowe, Lux, Clark, and Burke has reshaped the rosters of the Rays, Angels, and Reds, setting the stage for an exciting upcoming baseball season. Fans of all three teams will be eager to see how these new acquisitions will contribute to their respective clubs in the coming months.
