Julian Lennon Launches ‘Love the Earth’ Animated Series at SXSW London

Julian Lennon is making waves in the world of children’s entertainment with the introduction of his latest project, “Love the Earth.” This new animated series was unveiled at SXSW London and is set to combine Indigenous storytelling with environmental activism to engage and educate young audiences. The inspiration for the series stems from Lennon’s bestselling “Touch the Earth” book trilogy, which he co-authored with Bart Davis.

Directed by Jean-Paul Mertinez and co-produced by Meena Khera, “Love the Earth” utilizes wildlife modeling, real-time animation, lush 3D environments, and immersive sound design to create a visually stunning and engaging experience for viewers. The series is being produced by Compassionate Studios in the U.K., with a team of executive producers including Lennon, Davis, Lyndon Haviland, Rebecca Warfield, and Forest Trends.

The screen rights for “Love the Earth” were secured by Erica Spellman Silverman on behalf of Trident Media Group. Once completed, the series will premiere worldwide on YouTube, aiming to establish itself as a new model of purpose-driven, globally conscious children’s and family entertainment.

The launch of “Love the Earth” was celebrated at a panel titled “Love the Earth: Animation for Good,” which brought together a diverse group of collaborators including United Nations high commissioner for human rights Volker Türk, Mertinez, and actor Mo Brings Plenty from “Yellowstone.” Julian Lennon expressed, “We’re not just telling stories — we’re nurturing Earth heroes, one adventure at a time. The Earth needs loving. The children are the heart of that love.”

The series will feature voice cameos from notable figures such as Deepak Chopra, Sadie Frost, Raff Law, and Suvir Saran, each lending their voices to characters that guide children through important lessons on conservation and environmental stewardship. With a focus on endangered species and fragile ecosystems, “Love the Earth” aims to highlight the importance of preserving our planet while honoring Indigenous voices and cultural traditions.

In an effort to blend animation with reality, the production has issued a global call for filmmakers, conservationists, and environmental storytellers to submit real-world footage for potential inclusion in the series. Additionally, a creative partnership has been established with Indian conservationist and filmmaker Mike Pandey and Riverbank Studios.

Following the panel, King Charles made a surprise visit to SXSW London where he met with Julian Lennon, Mo Brings Plenty, Jean-Paul Mertinez, and Volker Türk. The collaboration and support for “Love the Earth” underscore the importance of coming together to protect our planet and inspire future generations to be stewards of the Earth.
