Kansas City usher, 66, ruthlessly beaten by teen who was asked to change seats during NBA YoungBoy concert at T-Mobile Center
An elderly worker was viciously attacked by a teenager during an NBA YoungBoy concert at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. Thomas Schlange, 66, was working at the event when he asked the teen to move from his seat. The teen responded by throwing Schlange to the ground and repeatedly punching him while onlookers watched in horror.
Schlange, disoriented and trying to defend himself, was eventually rescued by a bystander who stopped the attack. The teen was arrested by the police but later released to his parents as the investigation continues. It was revealed that the teen was under 16 years old, and the charges he may face are still unknown.
The victim, Schlange, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. He had pre-existing glaucoma, and there are concerns about potential damage to his eye as a result of the assault. A GoFundMe page was created by his family to help cover medical expenses.
Schlange’s grandson expressed devastation over the incident and criticized the attendees who did not intervene to stop the attacker. Schlange, who has worked at the venue for nearly two decades, never expected to be a victim of such violence.
The T-Mobile Center spokesperson described the attack as “horrific” and unacceptable, emphasizing that violence is not tolerated at the venue. The video of the assault has sparked public concern about youth violence and event safety.
The Mayor’s office condemned the violence and urged anyone with information to come forward. Concerts and events should be places of joy and connection, not fear or harm. The venue is working with law enforcement to ensure that the assailants are identified and charged for their actions.
In response to the incident, the United Center in Chicago canceled an upcoming NBA YoungBoy concert. While no specific reason was given for the cancellation, it is clear that safety and security are a top priority for event organizers.
NBA YoungBoy, currently on his “MASA Tour,” has been on his first tour in five years. The incident at the T-Mobile Center serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe environment for all concertgoers and staff.
