Katherine LaNasa on Shooting Disgusting Scene for Season 2
Katherine LaNasa, known for her role in “The Pitt,” has revealed that the most challenging word she had to say on the medical drama was “campylobacter.” In an interview at the HBO Emmy Nominees celebration, LaNasa admitted that she wasn’t entirely sure of the meaning of the word, describing it as something “horrible” and “really gross.” According to the Cleveland Clinic, campylobacteriosis is a bacterial infection that can be contracted from undercooked poultry, raw milk, and untreated water.
LaNasa earned an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Dana Evans, the emergency room charge nurse at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center in the series premiere season of “The Pitt.” She humorously mentioned requesting jewelry for a scene in Season 2, hinting at something “disgusting” that viewers can expect in episode 2.
The actress shared her approach to filming challenging scenes, revealing that she mentally prepares herself to “go outside my body” when necessary. LaNasa also opened up about her personal battle with stage 1 breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with a year before joining the cast of “The Pitt.” Despite feeling initially triggered by the hospital setting, she quickly overcame those feelings and embraced her role on the show.
Production for Season 2 of “The Pitt” officially began in June, with filming taking place at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, CA, and on location in Pittsburgh, PA. The upcoming season is set to premiere in January 2026, picking up 10 months after the events of the first season on the Fourth of July weekend.
Season 1 of the series, which featured 15 episodes, garnered 13 Emmy nominations, including nods for lead actor Noah Wyle and supporting actress Katherine LaNasa. Fans can look forward to the continuation of the gripping medical drama as the story unfolds in Season 2.
As the anticipation builds for the Emmy Awards ceremony on Sept. 14, final voting is set to take place from Aug. 18-27. Stay tuned for more updates on “The Pitt” and the talented cast bringing the compelling story to life.
