Kathy Hochul’s suck-up to the left this year could leave NY is sorry shape

Gov. Kathy Hochul is gearing up for her reelection year, but her record so far has left much to be desired. Throughout her time as governor, she has consistently caved to the demands of the far left and failed to stand up for the interests of New Yorkers.

One of Hochul’s biggest weaknesses is her lack of backbone when it comes to confronting progressives in the Legislature. Instead of pushing back against their toxic agenda, she has often compromised and given in to their demands. This was evident when she endorsed Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a controversial figure with radical views on policing, antisemitism, and taxes.

Hochul’s failure to address key issues in the state, such as criminal justice reform and education, has also been a cause for concern. Despite a crime spike and widespread dissatisfaction with the bail reform laws, she has only made minor tweaks to the legislation. The state’s public school system is also in disarray, with nearly half of the students not meeting proficiency standards in math and English.

On the economic front, Hochul’s green agenda has been a major point of contention. Her push for zero emissions and other costly environmental initiatives has raised concerns about affordability for New Yorkers. While she has recently backtracked on some aspects of her green agenda, it remains to be seen if these changes will have a lasting impact.

In addition, Hochul’s flip-flopping on taxes and other key issues has raised questions about her leadership style. Her willingness to pander to the far left and Mayor Mamdani’s supporters may alienate more moderate voters and harm her chances in the upcoming election.
